Every year the parents of the Grade 12 class come together to plan a fantastic After Grad for all the grads: a fun, safe and memorable celebration following the Grad Dinner Dance.
Grad, Convocation and After Grad
Grad season has three parts, and it’s easy to mix them up:
- Convocation is the formal graduation ceremony organized by the school.
- The Grad Dinner Dance is the formal dinner and dance for graduates, organized by the school with student input.
- After Grad is the parent-organized celebration that follows the Dinner Dance. It runs late into the night at the school and is a supervised, alcohol- and drug-free event.
What After Grad looks like
The school is transformed for one night. Past After Grads have featured photo booths, bubble tea, tarot card readings, bouncy castles, game tables, candy bars and more, plus entertainment and a prize draw. Students must attend to win prizes, which helps keep everyone together and safe.
Parents make it happen
A committee of Grade 12 parents forms early in the school year and runs several fundraisers to offset the cost of After Grad and bring in entertainment and prizes. Parents are needed to help organize, fundraise and volunteer on the night. Many hands make light work, and it’s a great way to be part of your grad’s final year.
